Cool creature design seemed relatively pointless, because it was an emotional drama rather than a monster film. Also they didn't blend the CG and live action well enough for it to seem realistic or fluid. All in all kind of a waste of time, even if it was an interesting monster to pick. Too much indie, not enough everything else. For a better emotional drama with literal monsters expressing figurative problems, choose the far better Colossal.”
